Operando Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction Studies on TiS<sub>2</sub>: The Effect of Propylene Carbonate on Reduction Mechanism

We present herein a systematic study of solvent co-intercalation during electrochemical reduction titanium disulfide in lithium cells using state the art situ and synchrotron X-ray diffraction. To understand role electrolyte components, four salts (LiBF 4 , LiBOB, LiPF 6 LiTFSI) three solvents (ethylene carbonate, propylene carbonate dimethyl carbonate) were investigated. Various types assembled diffraction patterns collected operando upon cycling. Co-intercalated phase formation was found to be triggered by presence electrochemically driven. This co-intercalated is formed early stages reduction, with cell parameters = 3.514 Å, c 17.931 corresponding approximately tripling pristine TiS 2 along c- axis. does not seem evolve further oxidation hence induces an overall loss capacity. Whereas nature anion appear influence formation, content clearly correlated both its amount extent capacity loss.
